Battled long ago, the story has faded into legend 10th September 2020

From a hundred metres above the battlefield, Lady Morwen observed the slaughter of the last remnants of the Abyssal Dwarf army. Shockingly, the dwarves’ attack had come as a surprise. Morwen’s small scouting force had barely finished clearing away a raiding party of the eastern knightly orders around Jarnrgrad Deep, when the dwarfs had unexpectedly emerged from the mine itself. No matter, they had been overrun just as easily as the barbaric humans before them.

It was however concerning that Jarnrgrad Deep, long though abandoned, had been occupied by the evil slaves of the Abyss without the elves’ knowledge. It would be necessary to scour the mine completely and leave a garrison of Fey to prevent the dwarfs returning to develop an outpost so close to Galahir.

Morwen spotted a handful of dwarves attempting to withdraw to the mine entrance, dragging the infernal mortar that had bombarded her force throughout the battle. She tugged at the reins of her mount, the great owl Muninn, and they turned sharply towards the mine. As they approached, Morwen did not signal Muninn to dive. Instead she leant forward to whisper in his ear. She felt the enormous bird tense momentarily beneath her, then watched as he regurgitated a giant owl pellet. The solid mass, the size of a boulder, plummeted downwards before impacting with a mighty crash into the mortar, smashing it to pieces and catapulting the surrounding dwarfs in all directions. Morwen laughed aloud as they wheeled away from the carnage and flew off in the direction of Fort Adamant.
